Depending on the season, the chances of seeing snowfall can vary as the weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. But when you’re going on the Himachal backpacking trip, especially during the onset of the winter season, you can expect to see snowfall in higher regions. Manali starts to receive snowfall by the end of November. The upper regions such as Rohtang Pass, and Atal Tunnel start to receive snowfall by mid-November and hence slight snow showers can be expected. Solang Valley receives the best snowfall in the months of December and January which is also the best time if you want to go skiing. Kasol itself doesn’t receive a heavy snowfall as it's situated at a slightly lower altitude when compared to other destinations. But nearby villages like Malana, Tosh, and more get covered in the snow completely in the months of December & January. Jibhi, which is a tiny hamlet, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas receives the best snowfall by the end of November and remains like that till February.
